SITES TO SEE IN JASPER COUNTY

Beaty-Orton House*
Built in 1888 this house is located at 200 S. Main St. in the city of Jasper. This restored Victorian home is on the National Register of Historic Places. For tour information call 409-384-2762.

Eastex Regional Art Center
Located at the corner of Crockett and Austin Streets. Open daily at 9 a.m. For more information, call
409-384-2404.

Jasper County Courthouse*
On the square of downtown Jasper, the courthouse was built in 1889 and restored in 1993. Guided tours given by Jasper Historical Commission, Monday-Friday. Free. Call 409-384-2762.

Lake Sam Rayburn
Just 14 miles north of Jasper is beautiful Lake Sam Rayburn. Named for the member serving the longest continuous term in the United States House of Representatives and Speaker of the House, Samuel Taliferro Rayburn, this vast body of water swallows over 14,000 acres and 600 miles of shoreline.
"Big Sam" not only offers family fun through fishing, boating and skiing; it also plays host to some of the country's largest professional and amateur fishing tournaments.

Martin Dies State Park
Martin Dies, Jr. State Park is located 10 miles west of Jasper on U.S. Hwy 190 and sits on the shores of breathtaking Steinhagen Lake. Nature is represented at its best on this 705 acres of splendor and offers something for every nature lover of the family.
