SITES TO SEE IN LIBERTY COUNTY

Magnolia Ridge Invitational Golf Tournament
The annual Magnolia Ridge Invitational Golf Tournament is held at the Magnolia Ridge Country Club in May each year. The beautiful golf course was ranked by the Dallas Morning News as the #1 nine-hole golf course in Texas for four consecutive years.

The Liberty Opry On The Square
The Liberty Opry On The Square features live country-western and gospel entertainment for the family.
Two shows each Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Awarded "Best Live Country Show In Texas,"
1995-1999. The house is always packed. For reservations call 800-248-8918.

The Humphreys Cultural Center
The Humphreys Cultural Center on Sam Houston Avenue is the home of the Liberty Municipal Library, the Humphreys-Burson Theater, the Vara Martin Daniel Pavilion, and the first exact replica of the historic Liberty Bell, which is proudly displayed in a bell tower behind the Center. Hours are Monday through Thursday
9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 409-336-8901.

Sam Houston Library and Research Center
Four miles north of town on FM 1011, is the official regional depository for 10 counties of Southeast Texas. It houses the Texana Collection of former Governor Price Daniel as well as his papers. The Center is
well-known to genealogists and historical researchers. Located on the grounds are: the restored Gillard Duncan Home, built in 1848 by Dr. Edward J. Gillard; the restored 1883 W.T. Norman House and the 1898

Trinity Valley Exposition
The Trinity Valley Exposition has been a Liberty favorite since 1909 when it began as the Liberty County Fair. Parades, a livestock show and championship rodeo, horse show and carnival are all part of the week-long fun. Taking place in October.

Birding
Some of the nation's best birding sites are less than an hour from Liberty. At High Island, the Anahuac National Wildlife Preserve, the Bolivar Flats, and the Candy Cain Wildlife Management Area at Smith Point, birders can spot thousands of birds in major migratory stopover areas. Liberty is on the Texas Coastal Birding Trail.

Historical Sites
Historical monuments and markers identify abundant sites including Sam Houston's law office, blocks of original Mexican town plat, and many old homes. For information about drive-by views and visitor sites,
stop at Liberty-Dayton Chamber of Commerce; 1801 Trinity St., open 8 a.m. to noon, 1 to 5 p.m. Mon. - Thu; Fri 1-4:30 p.m. 409-336-5736.
