Cooperative Employees Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity

Sam Houston Electric Cooperative employees woke early on Saturday, March 14, to help construct a new Habitat for Humanity home in Livingston.

Many employees helped to ensure the day was a success, including operations supervisor Larry Horn, line technicians Jason Valderez, Gary White, Doug Walding, Robert Lantrip, Casey Tucker, Matt Nettles, chief communications officer Keith Stapleton, communications specialist Rachel Frey and executive secretary Dana Massey.

The group installed the roof trusses and began adding the decking on the home. Volunteers from Georgia Pacific and several local churches also assisted in installing the trusses and building a storage shed in the backyard.

This Habitat for Humanity project will require more work before it is finished. If you would like to help, contact Polk County Habitat for Humanity by phone at 936-328-8529 or by email: habitat@livingston.net. No special skills are needed for volunteers, and tools and safety equipment will be provided.

Other communities in Sam Houston Electric Cooperative’s service area have also established Habitat for Humanity groups. You can find the closest affiliate to you by visiting Habitat for Humanity’s website: http://www.habitat.org/.
