Hurricane Harvey Update: Sunday, September 3, 3 p.m.

Members in the Fred, Spurger, Hillister and Silsbee areas have been experiencing power surges and outages today. Conserving energy after power is restored to such a large area can help the system remain stable. It’s similar to a breaker being tripped in your home when it’s overloaded.

We ask for members to continue to conserve energy, especially in the heat of the day. Saving laundry for this evening or tomorrow; bumping the thermostat up a degree or two; not using the oven or stove for a few hours; turning off lights that aren’t needed can all be a great help. Overload can be created when all the air conditioners, washing machines, dryers all come on at once. Our engineers are working to reroute power to help balance out our system.
