Meter
Sam Houston Electric Cooperative reads your
meter each month, using mobile automated meter reading technology.
Our meters are fitted with transmitters that send readings
to a computer in a truck as it passes by. In the vast majority
of cases, we are able to read your meter without coming onto
your property.
Your meter can also be a source of information
in helping to monitor your electric usage. One of the key
ways you can check on the amount of energy you use is to learn
how to read your electric meter. Your meter measures how much
electricity you use in kilowatt-hours during a given period
of time and is the basis for how your electric bill is calculated
each month.
