Following a heavy storm, Chief Communications Officer Keith Stapleton and I drove to Carol Bond Health Foods in Liberty. Stopped just once by a tree across the road, we arrived to thank Sherry Mettlen and her employees for their donation to Operation Round Up.
Mettlen is also a member of the Sam Houston Electric Cooperative Charitable Foundation Board of Directors. The Foundation manages the Operation Round Up program. She decided to donate $500 to the program in addition to rounding up her bill each month.
“We are pleased to make a $500 donation to the Sam Houston [Electric Cooperative Charitable Foundation’s] Operation Round Up that provides grants to 501(c)3 organizations which are in the Sam Houston EC’s Service area,” Mettlen said. “Thank you for the support of our local community for supporting us and allowing us to give back our community. Let’s all work together to make our community a better place for all of us to live.”
Operation Round Up is a program where members can round up their bill to the next whole dollar. These pennies are then distributed to non-profit organizations that improve the quality of life for Sam Houston Electric Cooperative’s membership.
Non-profit organizations can see the grant guidelines and application here.
If you have considered joining Operation Round Up in the past, it is not too late to join now. The average donation is just $6 per year or 50 cents each month. Click here to join now.
