Youth & Community Education
Cooperative principles include promoting education, training and information to Sam Houston Electric Cooperative consumer-members. Whether it’s educating the community about our plans and goals for the future or explaining the power restoration process during an outage, Co-op employees strive to make learning about electric topics both interesting and fun.
As an electric provider, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative feels a strong obligation to educate our members and their children about how to work and play safely around electricity. Our employees can help people of all ages learn about the basics of how electricity works and the potential dangers it presents around us in our daily lives.
Sam Houston EC also offers a variety of presentations about careers, safety and the cooperative business model. Among our presentations is one created for high school students, where they learn about the Youth Tour program and the opportunities it provides.
Sam Houston EC is also a proud supporter of children’s groups throughout our 10-county service area, including Boys & Girls Club, livestock shows, and programs that promote the pursuit of higher education, including our scholarship program and youth tour.
