
Apply for the 2024 Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.!
This is an opportunity to attend a seven-day educational trip to Washington, D.C. for the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour! On June 16-24, 2024, students will have the opportunity to see some of the most influential and educational spots, all in our nation’s capital. In addition to being a lot of fun, the Washington Youth Tour is ana fantastic leadership opportunity for any young man or woman.
Current sophomores and juniors in high school, join hundreds of peers from across the United States for an all-expenses paid, weeklong trip.
This tour is a great leadership opportunity to meet lots of new people, learn American history, and see the beauty of Washington.
This event has been sponsored annually since the mid-1960's. Every year, over 100 Texas teenagers travel to see our government in action. Sam Houston Electric Cooperative sponsors two students to attend the youth tour.
While in Washington D.C., students have a chance to:
- Visit historical sites, such as Capitol Hill, Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, Mount Vernon, the Washington National Cathedral, the U.S. Supreme Court, and more.
- Meet members of Texas’ congressional delegation.
- Learn the cooperative business model.
- Create lifelong friendship with students from across the country.

Eligible applicants must:
- Be a high school sophomore or junior.
- Be a dependent of a Sam Houston EC member with permanent resident status in the Co-op’s service area.
