Sam Houston Electric Cooperative unveiled an improved phone system in April.
“Most of the changes were made to the management of the system, which will allow for improved call processing and quick service,” Chief Communications Office Rachel Hawkins said.
Due to improved security standards, consumer-members will need to enter their Card Verification Value (CVV) code when making one-time payments, or when entering a new saved payment method. The CVV code is the three-digit code on the back of most payment cards.
“Members have the opportunity to create a custom PIN to securely access account information on the system,” Hawkins said. “The PIN can either be a unique number set by the member, or it may be the last four digits of your social security number.”
The greatest change is that members can access payment or outage reporting services from either of Sam Houston EC’s toll-free numbers, 800-458-0381 and 888-444-1207.
“This new system allows for more flexibility and ease for members to interact with Sam Houston EC.” Hawkins said. “Members can also choose to use the mySamHouston app or web portal to conduct business with their not-for-profit electric cooperative.”
