Sam Houston EC Hosts TEC Hot Line School

A Texas Electric Cooperatives Hot Line School was held at the Sam Houston Electric Cooperative training field in Livingston from October 22 to 26, 2012.

22 line technicians and 5 instructors attended the school. 7 Texas cooperatives were represented, including: Bartlett EC, Jasper-Newton EC, HILCO EC, Lamar EC, Navarro EC, and Sam Houston EC. In addition to cooperative employees, the City of Livingston and the City of Jasper were also represented at the training.

The school, which separates participants into 4 groups based on experience level, gives line technicians additional training for situations that they may face in the field.

Danny Williams, TEC loss control manager, said that the course is 1 of about 35 training courses held across Texas each year. These training schools range in topics from hotlines and regulators to transformers, troubleshooting, and metering.
