Each year, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative awards two deserving high school students with a trip to our nation’s capital for the Government-in-Action Youth Tour. The students must be high school sophomores or juniors, and a dependent of a Sam Houston EC member, residing in the Co-op’s service territory.
Sam Houston EC is proud to announce the 2026 Youth Tour Delegates, Natalie Mayronne of Willis High School, and Emmalee Reuter of Livingston High School.
“They are exemplary students and active members of the communities we serve,” said Noemi Montoya, communications specialist at the Cooperative. “They will represent the Cooperative and East Texas well as they join hundreds of peers from across the United States for an all-expenses-paid, weeklong trip.”
While in Washington, D.C., delegates have a chance to:
- Visit historical sites, such as Capitol Hill, Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, Mount Vernon, the Washington National Cathedral, the U.S. Supreme Court and more.
- Meet members of Texas’ congressional delegation.
- Learn about the cooperative business model.
- Create lifelong friendships with students from across the country.
