Winter Storm, Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026, at 8:57 a.m.

Sleet and freezing rain pushed through East Texas last night and into this morning. The edge of the storm is still moving through our service area.  Just over 5,500 consumer-members have been impacted through 8 a.m., but Co-op crews have worked overnight to restore service to 4,100 locations. Crews are working to repair all outages.

Sam Houston EC urges you to help protect crews, our communities and yourself. Please stay off roads if you are able. Follow local emergency management officials and DriveTexas.org for driving information.

If you are using a generator, please connect it safely so it does not energize the distribution system, which endangers linemen. Also, place it in an open space to reduce the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
