Celebrate the Benefits of Co-op Membership!

There’s no better way to celebrate National Co-op Month than to give back to our communities and the member-owners we serve. All month long, we'll be taking on service projects throughout our service territory. From improving public parks to presenting safety information, the Co-op is taking advantage of October's fall weather to be involved in our communities.

Sam Houston Electric Cooperative crews, as part of a cooperative effort with the City of Livingston, got an early start on a much-needed lighting project at Matthews Park in Livingston. With the addition of four light poles boasting eight new lights, walkers, joggers and runners can utilize the walking track and grounds more safely after dark.

“We’ve already had walkers stop us and tell us how excited they are about the lights,” said John Williams, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative line technician and project volunteer. “We’re glad we can make the park feel safer at night.”

The employees in the Livingston headquarters office have a few more projects lined up throughout the month. Employees out of the Co-op’s Woodville and Coldspring branch offices will be rolling up their sleeves as well.

“We hope to expand our service month celebration next year,” said Rachel Frey, Sam Houston Electric Cooperative communications specialist and service month coordinator. “We’ll be looking for more opportunities to give back across our entire service territory.”
