Electric utility poles can be seen all across our area, and while each pole’s specific equipment varies according to the service needs of each area, most poles look similar to the image below.
Many Sam Houston Electric Cooperative utility poles have multiple lines attached to them. At the top are primary wires and neutral wire that deliver safe and reliable electricity to your home or business. Below those lines, some poles include lines that deliver cable or fiber communications services.
The providers of these communications services typically contact Sam Houston EC to negotiate an agreement to use our poles. The funds obtained through that agreement are used to help maintain the poles and provide routine inspections.
Sam Houston EC’s existing power line easements with our Co-op members do not cover other entities using those easements. Each third-party cable or fiber company that crosses a landowner’s property is required to get its own easement from that landowner. If you have questions regarding an easement for cable or fiber companies that wish to cross your property, please contact them directly.
Our goal is to protect your rights as a Co-op member. Give us a call if you have questions.
