Co-op Members to See Decrease in February Electric Bills

Sam Houston Electric Cooperative members will see good news when they open their electric bills this month. Credits totaling more than $2 million will be applied to Cooperative members’ February statements.

The average residential member will receive a credit of $16.

According to Kyle J. Kuntz, CEO of Sam Houston EC, the Cooperative is receiving a wholesale power credit from its power supplier and is passing on the entire amount directly to members.

“We’re a not-for-profit entity,” Kuntz said. “Each Sam Houston EC member is one of 52,000 member-owners of the Cooperative. So, the credit is being passed along to those member-owners. The timing is especially good, as the credit will be applied in a cold weather month when electric bills are generally higher.”
