Hurricane Harvey Update: Monday, August 28, 7 p.m.

As of 7 p.m. more than 20,000 members have had service restored since #HurricaneHarvey impacted Sam Houston Electric Cooperative’s service territory on Saturday. More than 4,600 members are currently without power.

The ground is saturated and foliage is dense, resulting in trees falling on lines and many outages. New outages are occurring as line technicians restore power in other areas.

Crews are continuing to fight through inclement weather and areas that are difficult to access due to continued flooding. This information (click here) shows the areas of our service territory that are still inaccessible due to high and/or rushing waters. We’ll continue to closely monitor these areas.

We’re hopeful for milder weather tomorrow, and for receding waters, boosting our ability to make great strides with power restoration. We’re also closely monitoring the continued path of #HurricaneHarvey through the end of the week.
