This morning has brought lights to another large area, as power has been restored to a portions of Tyler and Hardin Counties. Power has been restored to 31,000 members this week.
In the Fred/Spurger area, there are currently 1,300 members without service as a substation transformer is being changed out. That process began at 11 a.m. and will take approximately six hours.
Of the remaining 800 that are currently out, most of those are in flooded or evacuated areas that are inaccessible. Our crews are monitoring those areas and will restore power when it is safe to do so.
It will be helpful if our members in areas that were restored this morning will continue to conserve until later today. Saving laundry for this evening or tomorrow; bumping the thermostat up a degree or two; not using the oven or stove for a few hours; turning off lights that aren’t needed.
This is helpful in that it prevents any type of overload that would be created by all air conditioners, washing machines, dryers and such from coming on all at once. This very normal following a large-scale outage, and it is only temporary for the next several hours as the system settles out.
