Hurricane Harvey Update: Thursday, August 31, 10 p.m.

An Entergy transmission line has dropped out of service, causing power outages affecting a significant area. This transmission line is the main "interstate highway" for electricity that is delivered to this part of Texas. Power outages related to this transmission issue currently extend from Orange, up through Jasper and Newton Counties, and into Tyler and Polk Counties, as well as some surrounding areas. Entergy is working on it, but there is no estimated time for restoration. It is anticipated, however, that the outage could extend into Friday. Sam Houston Electric Cooperative operations and engineering staff will stay in communication with Entergy until the transmission service is restored. Thank you for your patience.
