Sam Houston EC Shares Christmas Joy with Local Family

This year Sam Houston Electric Cooperative sponsored a family through the Empty Stocking Program collecting individual gifts and gift cards.

The gifts will be going to a single mother with five children—two boys ages 15 and 3, and three girls ages 12, 9 and 5 years old.

Every holiday season, Sam Houston EC employees participate in our local Empty Stocking program. Initiated in 1998, the Empty Stocking program aims to help low-income families provide Christmas gifts for their children.

The Empty Stocking program is sponsored by the Livingston Interagency Council—a network of social service agencies that provide various forms of assistance throughout Polk County. Area schools and local social service providers come together ensure that the program runs smoothly by preventing duplication and working together to better serve the needs of Polk county needy families.
