W.E. “Ernie” Miles has been named president of the Sam Houston Electric Cooperative Board of Directors. Miles lives in Montgomery County, near Conroe, and was elected to the Sam Houston EC Board in 1994, from District 5, which represents Montgomery and Walker Counties.
Mr. Miles’ distinguished service to the Cooperative and its members includes Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) certification through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). He has also served as a director on the Sam Rayburn Generation and Transmission Cooperative board.
Miles assumed the Cooperative’s Board presidency in October, when Truitt Thomson, Director from San Jacinto County, stepped aside as Board president after serving in that role for 20 years. Mr. Thomson will continue to serve as a Cooperative Board member.
In his address at the Cooperative’s Annual Meeting of Members on Nov. 12, 2013, Miles said, “Truitt, I thank you for your many years of faithful service in leading this Board, and my commitment to you and to our members is to uphold the integrity and cooperative values that have served this Cooperative well for so many years.”
