Sam Houston Electric Cooperative Prepares for Hurricane Harvey

Sam Houston Electric Cooperative is monitoring Hurricane Harvey, and preparing for the storm’s movement across Texas.

“In addition to the Cooperative’s crews, which are already prepared for the storm, several hundred contracted line technicians will be staged and ready to respond if needed,” Chief Communications Officer Keith Stapleton said. “Additional system operators will also be on duty in dispatch until the storm passes.”

Report outages to our Outage Hotline at 888-444-1207, and watch our website, outage viewer and Facebook page for the latest information. Visit ready.gov/hurricanes for tips on how to prepare your family and your home for Hurricane Harvey.

“Following the storm, stay away from downed power lines and be alert to the possibility that tree limbs or debris may hide an electrical hazard,” Stapleton said. “Treat all downed or hanging power lines as if they are energized. Warn others to stay away, and contact Sam Houston Electric Cooperative immediately.”
