As Sam Houston EC crews and contractors were working to restore the last few meters from Tuesday's storm, another line of thunderstorms began moving through East Texas. New outages are being caused by the strong winds, and crews are working to restore service. May 30, 10:30 a.m. Update
Sam Houston EC crews and contractors have restored service to more than 34,000 locations following the most recent storm, and they are working now to restore service to the remaining 285 locations.
The weather has been incredibly challenging this month, and we appreciate all the contractors and employees that have worked safely to restore service. Responding to the unusual number of large-scale outage situations like our area has experienced this month takes a great deal of teamwork and cooperation. Contractors come from far away to help, and many employees change their normal duties to help support the crews or provide additional information and support to our members. As our employees and visiting crews are pushing to finalize restoration efforts, we extend our thanks to them and to you, our Co-op members.

Sam Houston EC crews and contractors have restored service to more than 32,000 members since yesterday’s storm. Restoration efforts have been complicated by another line of storms that caused new outages. Crews are still working to remove trees and rebuild lines to those who remain without service. May 29, 1:30 p.m. Update
Service has been restored to more than 26,000 locations that lost service following yesterday’s storms. Sam Houston EC crews and contractors remain working to safely untangle pine trees, power lines, communication lines and poles across our system to restore the remaining locations.
The National Weather Service reported that winds in our service area reached upwards of 60 mph during yesterday’s storm. Most trees that fell were green trees according to the crews restoring power.

May 29, 9 a.m. Update
Sam Houston EC crews and contractors continue to make significant progress, restoring service to 22,000 consumer-members. Twenty additional contractors have joined our existing crews, and more will arrive later this morning.
Transmission lines serving the Corrigan area were damaged in the storm, and our transmission provider has crews on site now to fix the power supply serving this area. Our crews continue to patrol lines in this area to proactively fix the distribution system as well.
Our outage map has the most updated information: https://outage.samhouston.net/maps/OutageWebMap/. The map groups outages based on the equipment that reports a problem in the field. You may not see a symbol exactly over your home, but that may be due to an issue further along the lines, such as downed lines, trees or broken poles. Remember to also check your circuit breaker box to make sure it hasn’t tripped.

Service has now been restored to 19,000 members. With significant damage across the area, additional contractors are on their way to help restore service safely to our consumer-members.
As crews are out restoring service, they are reporting serious damage, such as many fallen trees and downed power lines. Often there are multiple locations that need repair along a stretch of line. Remember to stay away from down lines and be safe when using generators.
