Sam Houston Electric Cooperative was well represented at the recent Texas Member Services Conference in San Antonio. Keith Stapleton, Sam Houston EC chief communications officer; Ricky Harrell, manager of member services; Gwen Brackens, member service supervisor; and Mary Kate Scott, communications specialist, were all in attendance from the Co-op.
Harrell was appointed to serve on the TMSA board in 2012 and presided over a session at this year’s conference, in which Stapleton and Scott presented.
With the help of Kay Jarvis, of the Johnson City-based Pedernales Electric Cooperative, the trio shared their knowledge and experience on two topics with the group. The first, which Stapleton presented, was about how to make good presentations and be a more effective public speaker. Following, Scott and Jarvis shared how to maintain good working relationships with the media.
