Have you seen this guy before? Willie Wiredhand is the mascot of electric cooperatives. According to Willie’s official Facebook page, he was born in 1950 and was officially selected by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s membership to represent co-ops nationwide in 1951. Willie Wiredhand is the lovable character who, for more than 60 years now, has become a household name in rural America.
In the spirit of Sam Houston Electric Cooperative’s 75th anniversary celebration, Willie Wiredhand will be joining the Cooperative family. You’ll see Willie throughout the year celebrating with Sam Houston EC and sharing messages of energy conservation with Cooperative members, like you.
